How to build a reputation on Facebook and get more fans

Even though I post regular content and interesting stuff my Facebook page has just over 200 fans. I have seen some pages having thousands of fans and wonder whether there is something im not doing right. It would really be great if some experts can give tips on Facebook fan building for beginners like me.
