Is it Panda or Penguin due to which site is not ranking or some other penalty

My site got over 30,000 articles which includes both user generated and our own created content. My site used to rank for the domain name but now it doesn't. However upon searching it with .com its on first position but articles doesn’t rank well at all.

How i shall figure out what penalty my site is facing at the moment and how to get rid of it?

This tool has the history of all the algorithmic changes which will help you to identify when your site dipped and which penalty your site is having. Afterwards you can go to http://moz.com/google-algorithm-change for finding out the details of that update and the possible solution to get rid of the penalty.

If you have received any warning for unnatural links that is a sure shot penguin penalty or if you feel you were involved in such link-building activity, you may need to stop it right away before your website gets harmed. Go back to all spammy directories and social bookmarking sites, forums or blog directories and try removing the links which you can or contact the webmasters to remove them for you.
