Tips on Buying a DSLR Camera

I have been thinking of getting a camera for my photography hobby. I don't do it professionally but I am still pretty serious about it. My friends told me that DSLR cameras are the best out there and I was hoping for some tips from you guys before I buy one. If you have had any experience with DSLR cameras please share that too.

Most new DSLRs come with high resolution video recording functionality which allows you to make semi-professional looking movies and videos. Just make sure the model you are buying has this feature if you are intending to shoot videos.

Most people spend a lot of money on getting additional lenses for their DSLR which is not practical, especially when you are learning photography or trying it out as a hobby.

10 megapixels are enough More

Almost all DSLRs come with 10 megapixel sensors at the least and a 10MP sensor is sufficient for good quality photos. Don't fall for the megapixel gimmick and save your money.

they're easiest to use, I bought the 1000D easy for amateurs to pick up quickly and take the best shots.

Cannon and Nikon aren't the only brands More

Most people think only Cannon and Nikon DSLRs are good and that is not true. Other brands like Olympus, Pentax and Sony are also pretty good, so just get the camera you like and don't focus on the brand very much.

Check Shutter Speed to match your purpose More

Make sure the shutter speed of the camera you are buying matches the type of photography intend to do. If you are into sports for example, you will need a DSLR with a very high shutter speed otherwise your images will get blurred.

LCD displays vary between models but if you can afford it go with one that has at least a 2.5 inch display. This will make it easier for you to focus your image and get a better perspective.

Don't go off spending over $1,000+ for the professional DSLR when you're only a beginner, the best thing you can do is buy a beginner camera - that is easy to use for you and whoever else is attending to use it.
