Best Time for Homework

As a mum, I like to give my daughter time and space to unwind after a long day at school. However, I also like to ensure her homework is done and out of the way. When is the best time to sit with your child to do their homework? Right after school? Just before dinner? Or after dinner?

Tip 1 - My daughter is very different when compared to my son, each child is different.

My daughter is very different when compared to my son, each child is different.

Different children work better at different times. Just as with adults, some children work better early in the day and some later; some work better with music playing and some need quiet. You know your children better than anyone else and know what schedule works best for them.

Tip 2 - Before dinner and after supper

Let your kids rest and play during the afternoon and tell them to do their homework in the evening, after they have had something to eat for supper. They can keep at it till dinner time, after which they should be tucked in bed.

Tip 3 - During the afternoon, shortly after they get home from school

Getting homework out of the way during the afternoon will give your children plenty of time to do other stuff and not have to worry about homework. You will also have a hassle free evening this way.

Tip 4 - Any time can work as long as you are consistent with it

You can choose any time for homework but you have to make sure you are consistent with it. Don't give your kids too much relaxation in regards to that time so that it can form a habit.

Tip 5 - Early in the morning

Early in the morning is the best time for homework. That is when your mind and body is well rested and is able to take in just about anything.
